My Desk Area

When I finally rolled myself out of bed this morning, I decided to work on my desk area.  As you can see from the pictures below it is a little messy.  The paint cans came out of the laundry room and still need to be moved out to the shed.  I just didn't feel  like moving them.

As you see below, I was able to clean most of it out. I placed cookbooks that I use or my grandmother left me back in the shelves.  I moved the others to my dining room table for me to go through and place the wanted recipes in my recipe binder and the others will either be recycled (magazines) or given in my donation box.  I didn't take a after picture of the desk because I need to finishing making files for the bottom desk drawer.  When that is finished, then I can mark this off my list.

During the organizing of my desk, I had to make a run to Walmart for the bottom part of the desk.  I was just praying no-one would take a picture of me and place it on the People of Wal-Mart website!!!  Since I was working in the house, I was dressed in Denim overall shorts, a tank top without a bra, baseball cap and my flip flops had sparkles on them!!  Went to 2 different Wal-marts and neither had what I needed. So I stopped at:
for Mark and I sandwiches for lunch.  After lunch, I decided to hang out in the puppy pool.  Gibbs doesn't use it, so I laid out on my floatie and read part of a book.  After about an hour of sun... I went to Staples to get the needed supplies.    By the time I got home, I decided not to finish the files.  Will file tomorrow, that will give me something to do.

I spent the evening stitching, playing on pinterest, and chatting with my friend Kim.  What a great night!!!!

Summer Goals

Isn't this the best advice?  I had this made into a banner from Vista Print to hang in my classroom for next year.  Actually, I had a lot of things made for my classroom there.  I will post them all when the order gets in which will be in or around 14 days.

I sat down the other day and made a list of things I would like to get finished this summer.  Some will probably carry over into the fall.  Some probably won't start until Christmas break.  I have set some big goals.  We will see what I can get finished this summer.  I have already started working on some of these goals

1. Clean out laundry room
2. Clean out desk area in kitchen
3. Go through the laundry basket of magazines so they can be recycled
4. Organize recipes torn from the magazines into a recipe binder.  I found this awesome site to help me get organized.
5. Print all my pinned pinterest recipes.  I love this site so I am going to start printing and trying them out.  Will let you know how they turn out.

Ok...there is my list.  Now, I may or may not change these items.  It looks like a lot but it really isn't

I will get plenty of stitchtime, pool time and reading time for myself.  These are a MUST!!!

Mystic Stitch-Just not happening Plus Giveaway!

I still can't believe that I am on summer break.  To be honest, I am feeling a little bit antsy right now.  I am still in work mode.  I feel that I should be working on school stuff but then there is this part that says, start organizing your house.  What is a girl to do?? Make a list of things I want to do before I go back to school in August.   I will be posting my to do list tomorrow or actually later today.  I feel better now that I have a plan.

Speaking of plans, I worked on my Mystic Stitch this week. My plan was to put in 100 stitches a day on this project each day until then end of summer.  Which was a great idea because it was up in the rotation. The problem?  I HATE stitching on this project!!!! I found myself this week finding other things to do than stitch!!!  I don't know why I hate this design...but UGH!  Have you ever just hated stitching on a project???

I am going to work on my HAED!!!  I am actually enjoying stitching on this design.  Right now, I have 9.2% completed on it...2 pages.  Hopefully, I can finish 2 more page by the end of summer.

Today, I was working in my bedroom while watching Masterpiece Theatre - Sherlock.  One item on my list was to go through a laundry basket full of magazines.  During the school year, I flip through my magazines and then toss them in the basket if there is something I want to keep out of it.  Yes, I know it would be more practical to tear it out of the magazine then and then recycled but I don't. When I tore something out I placed it in a basket. I will sort them later and store them in the appropriate binder.  Jag decided to take a nap in my basket.  He is such a helper.

He was NOT happy when Bert tried to wake him up.  As you can see, he was too tired to hold his head up.

GIVEAWAY!!!!   Winner will be picked on May 31st and GC will be ordered right away.  If the first person picked didn't follow directions, a new person will be picked.

Since I am miserable stitching this golf piece for my DH...I would like to know if there has been a piece you just hated stitching but it was a gift for someone so you just had to trudge right along.

Leave your:
Name:
Email:
name of project you hated and how long it took to finish (if you did finish it)

The prize will be a $10.00 GC to 123stitch.

Happy Stitching Ya'll!!!

Summer Break and Summer Ball

Summer Break has officially started!!!!   I spent my first day sleeping in, taking a nap, stitching, reading, and went  for a walk.  It was an AWESOME day!!!  I also spent some time searching for my Netflix DVD and the lawn service bill.  My house keeper came on Monday and cleaned the house so well I can't find some things!  I think I am going to have to destroy the house to find these things!

I worked on Summer Ball for the past four days.  I love how it is turning out.  I do have a floating face on this one...it looks a little scary to be honest.

I have to be honest, I am not enjoying this golf piece.  So I have decided that i am going to try and put in 100 stitches a day on this design.  I have 78 days of break and so this will put quite a dent in this design.
My other summer goals are:
1) To organize all my magazines and put them into a database
2) Finish organizing all my threads
3) finish at least 2 pieces this summer

I am not sure I will meet goal 3 but I am going to try!!!

Interesting week is all I can say

It has been a while since I posted on here!  I know..I know...I am a horrible blogger but sometimes life does get in the way.  So, since I last posted several things have happened in my little world.  Lets start with the good and then move on the sad...

It has been 6 years with my DH!!!!

On Mother's day this past week, DH and I celebrated 6 years of marriage.  It seems so long ago!!  Mark and I went out to eat at this little French restaurant in town.  Lets just say they were very proud of their food!!!!  We did enjoy our meal though.

For my anniversary gift, DH bought me this beautiful Dooney and Burke bag from Disney!!!!  Does my DH know me or what????

Stitching Update:  I spent the last week working on my Victorian Village.  I finished the Barber Shop!  I have one shop left, the Sweet Shop!  Up next in my rotation is Summer Ball.  I did not follow my 4 day rotation...I was supposed to have finished this on Monday night, however, as you read below, you will see why my rotation went away this week.....

School news....
On Monday, I was called into the office so the principal could let me know that one of my students committed suicide Sunday night.  I was in shock all day Monday and Tuesday.  The hardest part was telling his classmates what happened. Last night, we went to visit with his family.  That was so hard, mom was putting together a video of pictures of him growing up.  It is such a hard thing to lose a teenager.

I am behind in reading around 4,000 emails....and around 1,000 blog posts....so I know what I will be doing this week when I start my summer vacation!!!!!

Rude Awaking, Castle and phone issues

Sunday morning I was sleeping soundly when I was awakened by all 5 of our smoke alarms going off!!!  Brigen started howling, Tusk and Gibbs started barking it was a mad house.  Mark and I searched and searched for fire, smoke anything that was making them go off!  We couldn't find anything.  After 30 minutes, I called Mr. Sparky since they were the ones who installed them last month.    They promised to send a technician in an hour!  UGH!!! Mark went downstairs to check on the 6th smoke alarm to find it beeping like the battery needed changing.  Of course we didn't have a 9-volt, so off to the store I went  and bought 6 of them!!!!  He changed the battery and the others finally stopped beeping.   Mr. Sparky showed up and explained that the smoke alarms were talking to one another and if a battery goes dead, we don't change it the others will beep and beep until it is changed.  All is well on the home front!

I posted that I hadn't worked much on Castle.  I was able to put in 1,000 stitches...it is coming along slowly.

If you look closely, you will notice my cell phone is being changed by my Orts jar.  According to the AT&T guy my charger section is corroded and they don't fix phones, they just upgrade for a small fee.  I have an I-pad, and I love my little phone so I thanked him and walked out of the building.  I promptly called AT&T where I knew we had phone insurance.  They did charge me $50 but no addition to my contract which is up in 3 weeks.  I also get an upgraded phone since mine is now discontinued and a one year warranty.  So I am  happy.  I just have to wiggle the charger to a certain position, sit something heavy on it and my phone will charge.  The new one will be here at the end of the week!!!!!

AWH Page Finish and Whining.....

Happy Dance!  Happy Dance!!!   I finished page 2 of A Wintery Heriloom!!!  Talk about being excited, now I only have 22 pages left.
As most of you can see that I haven't been posting much.  I really have just wanted to go into hiding.  Have you ever felt this way?  I thought when I got out of the behavior room, my school year would be so much better.  However, these past 2 weeks have been so stressful that I have gained all 7 lbs I lost plus 3 more.  I come home from work and just sit and stare.  I play on pinterst and read.  That is it.  I don't feel like doing much.  I have a couple of parents that in the education world are known as "That Parent"  These parents are very demanding and expecting me to cater to their every whim and if I don't do what they think I should do then they go directly to my supervisor and it becomes a circus.  I have a parent who is demanding an apology from me because I told her daughter she was rude.  She was assured it would hurt her self-esteem.  My question is, "How do you know you are being rude if someone doesn't tell you?"
I had a student tell me this week that his dad told him he couldn't do my project that I assigned at the end of spring break in March, because it was too hard. REALLY???  Here is the project:  Each student is to create 3 one page posters (normal printer paper) about 3 jobs they would like to have after High School.  Realistic jobs, not superstars etc. They have to include: name of job, salary, education needed, skills needed, room for advancement and a picture of the job.  This is too hard??? REALLY??????

Done Whining...today I spent in my sewing room making 12 personalized pillowcases for my seniors!!!!  I hope they will like them!
