Vacation Day 2 - Charleston - Rainbow Row and Haunted Ghost tour

One of my items on the to-do list was to see a plantation. We went to see Boone's Plantation and again no photo's allowed.   The house was amazing!

Karin is waiting for the tour.  It was so hot down in Charleston we were thankful for the shade.

Love this 100 year old tree that was down by the water....

Spanish moss was just beautiful!!

This nice lady was sitting in one of the slave quarters demonstrating how to make sawgrass baskets.  I asked to take her picture and she said "that is why I wear the hat".. It takes 3 weeks to make one basket!!!

Mom was in the butterfly garden willing a butterfly to land on her.

We walked down to my favorite part of the trip!  We made it to Rainbow Row and Battery Park.  I love all these house so that is what you will see for a bit.  We did check...to own a piece of this history is only 1.7 million....DH said we didn't have this week but maybe later.

Just had to get some pictures by the water!!!!

We went to the Moon Pie gift shop!!!  I love moon pies!!!

DH said he wouldn't mind living here.....

Can't you just picture women wearing Victorian Gowns sitting on the veranda???

We wanted to go on a Ghost tour so we hear the history.  It was amazing!  We went into the oldest cemetery in Charleston.  The stories were great...here are a few of the old tombstones...

This was one of the first "angel" markers they used in previous times.   It is a little scary...as you know it has evolved into the little cherub we see today....

I need opinions....The next two pictures were taken in the dark...not lights...nothing.  The tour guide said that I have energy streaks from those who haven't crossed over...what do you think????

According to my Jawbone Up - we walked 17,600 steps this one day!!!!  I was exhausted!!!!

Vacation Day 1 - Asheville, NC and Charleston SC

This year I met up with my stitching friend Karin in Charleston, SC.  We planned this for several months and was so excited to go!!!  The morning we were to arrive  in Charleston was the day after the tragic church shooting.   The church was a few blocks from our condo and we just happened to stumble upon on it as we were walking.  This is the first picture I am showing....

My mom came with me this year so I didn't have to do the 15 hour drive by myself.  Mom and I went to the Biltmore estate in Asheville, NC.  This is a fabulous site to see!!  I wish I had more pictures however, they don't allow visitors take pictures on the inside anymore.  The reason is because some crazy people were bringing in tripods and then others were actually laying on the floor....so ...no inside pictures.   This house took my breath way and if you get the chance...go see it!!!

Mom and I resting on the veranda....

Detail work is amazing...

I love all the windows....

We decided to walk through the garden...

I think the conservatory is bigger than my house!

Just a pretty flower...

Mom and I in the rose garden

Mom and I did have a heart attack moment driving from North Carolina to Charleston.  Mom was reading the details of the shooting outloud when the diesel beside us blew a tire and it sounded like a gun shot!!!  We both jumped and screamed.  I was shaking so bad...it is funny now but then we wasn't sure what happened!!

Charleston:

We picked Karin up from the airport in Charleston.  As we were waiting we saw Geraldo Rivera walk right in front of my car.  We arrived at the condo and it was nice!  Karin did an excellent job finding us a great place to stay right in the historic district.  Everything was within walking distance.

While we went out the first night...I saw these beautiful houses. I would love to live in a house like this!!!

When we got done exploring for the night we walked back to the condo and my mom asked me where my car was...I told her it was in the lot wasn't it?  Nope...it had gotten towed.  It seems our condo had designated parking and we didn't know this.  I parked in someone's spot.  The numbered spots were very hard to see.  So $180 later, cost of towing and cab ride, I finally got my car back.   The condo company said they would reimburse the towing fee since we couldn't see the numbers clearly.  Lesson learned...read all the information on a condo rental.  DH was great.I called him crying because it was towed...he replied "It happens, so go get the car"  gotta love my hubby!  More posts to follow

Has it been a month already?  The end of the school year is always busy and this year is no exception.  I found out this week that I am moving classrooms which is exciting!  I get to move to a bigger room so I am very happy!!!!  I didn't get to stitch as much as I wanted this month but I did work on my three projects plus my car project.   I spend quite a bit of month this month.  I will update my personal life later...things have been busy there too!!!

Lavender and Lace -Santa of the Forest 31.7%.  I don't know if I can count this as a page finish.  I had to break the pattern into 8 pages to stitch it....this is 2 of the pages complete.  So should I give myself some credit or wait till it is all done....

I visited Stitching with my Furbabies blog and she had started this new Disney pattern with the monorail...well, I had to know where she got it.  I found the Etsy store and the owner was having a sale.  Buy 3 get 1 free.  Like I need any more HUGE projects....but I bought 3 and got one free. So here are my new Disney patterns:

My last purchase was this Cross Stitch Collection magazine.  I has part 2 of a dollhouse that I really want to have in my stash.  I have to get the previous month and next months to finish out the dollhouse but I will!!!

April Stitch From Stash

Month:  April
Spent:  $39
Earned: $15.00
Budget: $93.79 + $1 = $94.79

It was a pretty good month for me.  I did buy another piece of fabric for my birthday Golden Kite design. I decided I wanted a cream piece instead of beige and I wanted 18 count instead of 16 count.   I also bought a magazine from my stash unload Facebook group.  I needed a few threads for Winter and Santa.  I also bought a piece of fabric from Silkweavers for my preening pixie design.  I spent quite a bit this month!  BTW...does anyone know how long it takes to get your fabric from them?

I finished page 2 of Victorian Winter from Mystic Stitch.  I love how this is turning out!!!!

Santa has a face!!!  This is my Lavender and Lace Santa of the Forest  I love how he is turning out  He looks so peaceful.

If you read my blog and are participating in this challenge.   Do you know how I count a L&L?  It is one huge page that I had to copy onto 8 different pages.  Just wondering...thanks for stopping by!!!

Vertigo

I woke up Monday with Vertigo and it was weird.  DH was out of town on a business trip so it was me and the boys.  As long as I was sitting down, my world was fine.  The moment I stood up is when I felt like I was on a tilt a whirl. I went to work thinking it would pass and I could go on with my day.  That didn't happen!!  I wound up having to go to home around 10 because I just couldn't handle it.
I came home, laid on the couch and was just a bum.  I didn't go to work on Tuesday either because I developed a fever on Monday night.  What a time for my hubby to be out of town!!!  My world was somewhat back to normal on Wednesday.

On Saturday, I felt like I had been hit by a train.  Those three days of work just wore me out.  However, I had to suck it up because it prom night!  I asked DH to go to prom with me and he refuse to go.  However, he was kind enough to cook our Sped prom dinner. He grilled 50 chicken legs and baked 2 bags of chicken tenders.  My department always serves our kiddos dinner at 6:00 then at 7:00 they get to go out to the dance floor and dance away by themselves for abut an hour and that is when everyone else gets there!  They had so much fun!!!

Stitching update:
This week's rotation was Victorian Winter.  I had hoped to finish the 2nd page this week but we me being sick. It just didn't happen! I am going to finish this page before I move on to my Lavender and lace Santa.

This is Faery Tales from last week.  Not much to show except that I have been stitching the sky.  So much blue!!

Time to show off the furbabies..

I know I tell you lots about Bert but let me show you my Jag kitty.  He is the oldest of all my furbabies at age 11.  He is the king of the pets.  They are all scared of him because he is really a tiger.

Bert is now opening drawers so he can take a nap.

The day I had vertigo, Gibbs was very concerned. He sat and stared at me for a while.

This is what is happening in my part of the world! Thank for stopping by!!!!

Crazy Stitching Week!!!!

I was so excited this week because I thought I was going to be starting a new project - Preening Pixie.  However, it didn't happen like I thought.  I did start it...but HATED the fabric I picked for it.  It made me miserable to stitch on so I stopped.  I had picked a 32 count linen and I hate linen.  I have no idea why I thought this would be a good idea...so I decided to dye my own fabric for this piece.  I got some teal rit dye along with what I thought was dark blue. However, it was actually a dark green.  This is what I came up with and started stitching on it...I don't like it!!!!  so this piece it put away until I find just the right fabric!!!!!!

This is what the design will look like when finished so I think the fabric should be some type of dark blue.  What so you think?

So I pulled out my Lavender and Lace Santa of the Forest.  I kept working on Santa's beard.  This beard is very detailed!!!!!  I am changing this up a bit by using gold beads for his staff.  I think that will really make it pop!!!!

This will be the final product.

My brother knows I have been trying to get back in shape and lose about 30 lbs.  He ask me to join him in this 5k obstacle mud run.  I am getting out of my comfort zone and agreed!!!!  I think I am insane but on May 23, 2015 I will be voluntarily running in the mud!!!!

Bert update...he has brought in 2 dead snakes one non-poisonous snake and 1 baby copperhead!!!  That cat is going to drive me nuts!!!!!
