Augusta is FINISHED!!!!

Did anyone feel the earth shake last night???  It was me dancing all over my living room!  I finished my Augusta the 13th hole!!!  This is it right off the qsnaps.  I started it in 2007 but got bored stitching trees so I put it up for a few years.   However, I decided this year that it was my oldest UFO so it had to be finished.

I do have to wash this piece.  How do you wash your pieces.  I am thinking of washing it in the sink with Dawn dish soap.   Any other good ideas????

Now..my next oldest UFO is the my Faery Tales from Heaven and Earth designs.  This design is 49 pages and it so pretty!!!

I have 3 pages completed!!!!  This is my next UFO project.   I hope to have it finished by Dec. 2016.

GORGEOUS, Vickie!!! Do you do full cross or half for your big projects? I would love to have my Nativity piece finished in two years. It's about the same size, but I'm afraid I'm too easily sidetracked my other stitching along the way. SIGH! You did a GREAT job!!!

Congratulations! It's beautiful. I love the feeling of finally completing a design. Especially one with that many stitches.

Congrats!! There is always something so cathartic about finishing a piece! I usually just fill the sink with lukewarm water and add a bit of laundry detergent to it. I let it sit a bit, then hang it up to dry so I can iron it. Nothing too fancy.

Congrats on your finish! I would probably wash it the same way - in a sink of cold water with a bit of dawn soap thrown in.

Can't wait to follow your progress on the next piece!

What a great finish - kudos to you! Dawn in the kitchen sink is my method as long as the fibers are colorfast, then rinsed thoroughly and pressed stitched side down into a fluffy towel. Can't wait to see your final finish.

Was in cool water with a CLEAR soap, like ivory dishwashing liquid or use Orvus, which is what I use, and it works really well. Do NOT use Woolite!

Beautiful finish!

I don't always wash my finished pieces, actually I can't remember the last time I washed one. The reason is that about 8 or 9 years ago (could be longer) while I was working at my LNS I learned that there are no companies that make colorfast dyes for their floss any longer. Not even DMC or Anchor. They can't use the chemical they used to use to keep things colorfast any longer so they will not guarantee that they are colorfast any longer. If I had to wash my piece it would be in very cold water & I used to use Johnson's baby shampoo as it is gentle & rinses out easily. Just my humble opinion.
