Progress and starts - long post, grab some tea

I want to say thank you for all the wonderful messages you left about my meltdown.  This week was a little better.  You won't believe this but I didn't pick up a needle until Friday...It was a long week.  I have a duckling that it doesn't matter what happens, they are never in wrong, and it is always my fault.  The parents have an excuse for everything.  I started dealing with this parent on Monday and it was still going when I went home on Friday.  So, everyday I would come home, sit in my chair, fall asleep, wake up then go to bed....this was my life.  I am not sure if it was the stress or the lack of caffeine.

I have stopped drinking soda and even tea.   I stop at Sonic every morning and purchase a Route 44 Pineapple water.   It is a scoop of pineapple bits, ice, then water....I did some research on Pineapple water and love the health benefits.  I read this article and thought wow!!!  I can say that I don't crave Chocolate or sugar since I started drinking this and the part about being good for your intestines...it works.  Lets just leave it there.

Stash shopping:   I bought some things off Stash Unload this week.  Less than what I have usually done.  I did buy some kits off Aliexpress.  It is like a Chinese Amazon.  They were having a big sale and had some Bothy Thread kits for $8.00 each, a Russian kit I have been watching on ebay that usually runs $70...they had it for $20.00.  I decided it is better to safe than sorry when shopping outside the US...I bought a prepaid MasterCard with a set limit so I couldn't purchase everything I wanted!   Plus, since it is a pre-paid my identity can't be stolen!!!

The week of Spring Break, I did make myself stitch....I worked on Faery Tales and I even finished a page!!!   I have 16 pages left!
 Page I finished...

I told you that I had to force myself to stitch....I beaded...lots and lots of beads.  Check out the white beads on her dress...yes, this is what I did..

Year of starts....I told you I was making a small change.  Since this part of the school year is crazy, hectic and exhausting.   So, I am going to work on 3, maybe 4 projects:  I am going to do the borders on:  Brookes Advent; Xmas starts here; Brookes Cakes - then start each block of my First Xmas design.  Things will be boring for a while on my start side...but I will feel great knowing I have the borders done!!! LOL!!!  Once school gets out for the summer, I will get caught up on my monthly starts..maybe

Some Changes

It has been a while.  I know!!!  I had an emotional meltdown last week and still feeling the effects of it.  My stitchy bug has disappeared and that is bad news for my year of starts. Which are changing but that is in another post.   It has been a year and I have not taken care of myself like I should have.  Does your head ever race and it never stops???  Mine has been doing this for a while.  I was calming it by stitching but here lately that isn't helping either.

My meltdown...we had some pretty weather last week while I was on Sping break.  I decided to pull out my favorite capris and tee shirt to wear.  I knew I had gained some weight so I thought they might be a little tight...UM.. I couldn't pull them up past my thighs.  OMG!!!  So I pulled out my fat capris...these are the ones that were always too big when I was at my heaviest weight...they didn't fit!!!!  I sat down and cried. It just hit me how much my illness this year, new medicines, not working out, stress from work and snacking has affected me.  I can't fit in my fat pants!!!!!

I made  decision that I needed to work on ME!  I really don't feel like buying new clothes so I decided to join Weight Watchers online.  Where I live, they only have meetings during the day while I am at work.  I could drive 35 minutes to go to a meeting but it would really take an hour to make it during rush hour traffic.  So the online community is the way to go.  I have started going back to the gym, cut out sodas and sweet tea.  I have found a new drink!!  I go to Sonic in the morning, purchase  Route 44 water with fresh pineapple =  $0.88 , I get a sonic cup, crushed pineapple at the bottom, topped with Sonic ice and water.  Lasts most of the day!!!!

I have also bought some self-help books to read. I pulled out an unused notebook for daily journaling on my thoughts and feelings.

One of the books I bought was:

I am loving this book.  I am reading the chapters and doing the worksheets/journal ideas.  I didn't realize how many areas of my life I was being pulled. It has taught me to start putting myself first and it is ok to say NO!  I have a hard time doing this!

I bought two more books but I haven't started them yet.  I will let you know my opinion later on.... My shopping has gotten a little out of control.  I do this when I feel bad about something or just need a pick me up!  Which this past year, has been all the time.  I seem to always say "me please" to a cross stitch chart or magazine.  My husband showed me exactly how much I spent last month alone..I was shocked!!!  I didn't realize!!! So ....Here are the books I bought (yes, I see the irony)

I will keep you updated on my readings and life changes.

Year of Starts weeks 9 and 10 and Charity Stitching

Do you ever have that day when you say I know I need to do something but No..I just can't???  That was me last Sunday.  Mark went out of town earlier in the week and I had the house to my self.  Sunday, he was supposed to be home but instead he had layover, mechanical issues so he instead of being home at 3:00 pm...he got home at 3:30 am!!!  So I spent my last evening texting him, computer off and watching flosstube!  I find that as I listen to stitchers talk about stitching..I stitch more!!!

I came home on Friday to this:
Brigen ate my Mill Hill kit...well he ate the pattern!!! OMG!!!!

It has been crazy at work!  I had to proctor the ACT and let me tell you, walking in a circle for 5 hours watching kids take a test is very stimulating!!  All I could think was, why can't I stitch??? This is valuable time!!

It snowed yesterday!!!  Actually the day went: Rain, Sleet, and then snow.  It was all melted by the time I got up.  Bert knows better to stay inside but Tiger Lily wasn't so sure about the snow:

I have to tell you...I am enjoying the year of starts but I am stating to freak out a just a little.  I see all these projects and it does freak me out!  So here is what my stitching looks like:

Faery Tales:  As you know this is the one piece I want to finish!  I have 22 pages complete and 18 to go.  This is like my white whale!  It has to be finished this year....I can't stand the thought of seeing on my TBS list for next year.  I have about 600 stitches from having page 23 finished!!!

Another one I pulled out to stitching on for one of my facebook groups..
Princess Grace:  I stitched more on the pink.

All my new starts for the past 2 weeks...get ready!!!

Year of starts week 8 and a finish!!!!

Hi Everyone!! I truly hope you had a great stitchy week.  I was able to do all my starts and even have a small finish!!!!   Things here have been busy as usual.  I am halfway finished with my college class and so ready for spring break!!!   Next week, we are going to dining in the dark again!!!  A local restaurant has a nigh where they dim the lights, place a blindfold on you and you enjoy a 4 course dinner!!  It is so much fun!  They do tell you where things are located when they bring the plate.  You can also take off your blindfold if it freaks you out!!!

Did I tell you that Tiger Lily has started going out the doggie door?  She loves being outside and it is driving me nuts!

This week I have to start homebound services for a student who just can't make it in school. So I get to meet with them for hours a week at the local public library to work on all their studies.  It is extra money but it makes my days really, really long!!!!

On to Stitching:
Check out Faery Tales!!  I just have about 2000 stitches before I am finished with page 23!!!

Look at my little finish!  it is a Mill Hill penguin!  Isn't he just the cutest???  I didn't do such a great job cutting him out but I like him!!

Year of Starts week 7 with a finish!!!!

It's Sunday and I am posting!!!!   Thank you for all your well wishes with me passing my test.  I am so thrilled!  Tomorrow is my 44th birthday.  My family is taking me to Olive Garden for dinner which I am excited about!  The flu is running rampant in my school and I have been sending students to the nurse right and left.  I have such a week immune system this year that I stayed home on Friday.  I slept all afternoon.

It seems the consensus is that borders count as starts....so I will stitch them as they come along.  I have a finish to show!!!!   I finished the January portion of the Cloudsfactory Fabulous Women SAL. I need to add some beads to the chandelier. I gave Mrs. Roosevelt's chair an extra leg.  The pattern didn't call for it but it looked  strange with only 1 leg.  Now I need to start February's (that will be this next week!!!)

I was smart this week....before I put a project up this week, I took a picture of it!!!!

Here are my starts:

A whole new world part 2

Disney Dreams Cinderella ornament 2 - Lucifer

Mill Hill Village:  Clock Shoppe

Mill Hill Village: Through the Woods
.

I restarted my Stitchy Box Quaker Cakes:  The designer created this border after I had started so I just changed the fabric.  I am stitching the outer border in Carrie Creations: Blue Berry Pie.  The individual Cake borders are with a thread that is in the cake.

Mill Hill Village:  Village Bakery

Brookes Books: February cupcake  (the 2nd one)

That is my starts for this week!   I have some new stash that I want to show you so I will post those later this week.  I really have to stop saying "Me Please" on the stash unload.  I figure I can say it until my husband says "enough cross stitch shopping this month"  We will see when that happens!!!! LOL!!!
