New Project - I must be crazy

After seeing the Sistine Chapel in person, I just new I had to stitch it!!!!  I bought the pattern book and just about had a heart attack.  The book is over 300 pages long.  I found a deal on fabric by searching E-bay.  I found someone who was selling Jubilee 28 ct for $15 a yard.  I had to buy 3 yards for this project!!!  In case you are wondering, the stitch count is 564 x 1114 and it will be around 40 inches x 80 inches when finished.

I know...I am insane!!!!  I am not setting a time limit on this one and I am really not sure when I am going to start it.  Before I start, I want to have bought all the floss for it in case I run out and I can't find the same dye lot.  I am going to get 669 skeins of DMC!!!!  I will go play in my floss colors to see what I have and what I will need.

This is the a picture of the designer and finished project of the design.

I want to finish my Disney Castle and my Summer Ball design before I start this so I guess I had better get to stitching!!!!

Insane is probably a mild word for this - lol I think someone on the Mystic Stitch Facebook group is doing this - the 2 of you can share a room - lol Have fun with it!!!

OMG Vickie!! If anyone was going to stitch something this big, you would be the one I would expect to do it! After seeing some of your other stitched pieces I have no doubt that you will finish it. I hope I live long enough to see it finished! :) Be sure to update with progress pics because I would love to see them. Btw, not sure if you figured the total # of stitches, but I did... 628,296!! That is insane! But it is absolutely beautiful! Looks like a winter only project because that is a lot of fabric to work with. It's gonna get heavy! Lol I'm rooting for you!

I heard that there are some minor problems in the pattern so you are going to want to watch out for those. I know that Heaven and Earth Designs also released a pattern of the Sistine Chapel.

Anyway, best of luck to you. This is most certainly a hefty task. I will look forward to your updates. It will be that much more special for you since you actually saw the Sistine Chapel.

Oh, I think this project is wonderful!! I love large projects but I'll admit that I didn't even know that ones this large existed! I have a HAED pattern that is about 100 pages long...and I want to start it and have every intention to...but 100 pages seems a bit daunting to me. Regardless of the fact that I like large pieces! Good luck on your project ~ please post updates for us as you go along.

OMW~!!! It's going to be so beautiful! And I'm sure you'll finish it, as well, but I definitely don't expect it to be anytime in the near future! Best of luck with this project. I like BAPs myself, but have NO intention of ever doing anything this large! "A Patch of Blue" is a daunting enough challenge for me!
