Stitching From Stash - January 2014

Mel from Epic Stitching started a challenge this year that is really simple.  Your goal is to stitch from your stash this year.  As you know, almost all stitchers have about three lifetimes worth of stitching supplies in their stash.  You get a $25 budget each month in order to buy new stash if you just NEED it.  The best part is that the $25 will carry over each month if you don't use it.

This month I did NOT spend any money on new stash.  I am very proud of myself.  Below are some pictures of my stash.....

This is my Charts, and fabrics Stash...

Closet with magazines, kits, floss, beads, and other goodies....

End of the week positive thoughts

Positive Thought -Thursday January 23rd:
I went to work on Thursday even though I felt like I was dying.  You know you are sick when a class of teenagers look at a you and tell you to go home because you look terrible.   I left work after 2nd hour and went to the Doctor.  They squeezed in and after visiting with the doctor,  I have bronchitis.  I am very thankful for health insurance that covers prescriptions because had I not had insurance, it would have cost me over $200 for all 4 prescriptions.

Positive Thought - Friday, January 24th
Took a sick day today....very thankful for paid sick leave!  it was a great day napping, watching TV and stitching.

Positive Though -Saturday January 25th
A husband who understands that I am sick and doesn't care if the house is a mess. He brings home dinner so I don't have to cook and lets me have the big TV to watch old movies on while he watches golf in the bedroom.

Positive Thought- Sunday January 26th
Thankful for the my local stitching friends who meet up once a month.  My local group went to Atlanta Bread company for our stitching day.  It was a great time getting together and catching up.

First of the Week Positive Thoughts

Positive Thought - Monday January 20th
I woke up feeling horrible, but went to work because it is more trouble to make lesson plans than to stay home.   I left my laptop at home! UGH!!  Luckily, the school had an extra one for me to borrow for the day.  I am very Thankful for that!!

Positive Thought Tuesday January 21st
I am very thankful for Robitussin Cough and Cold.  This has been a wonder for me!  I am able to sleep without coughing.  I have woken up in the middle of the night and moved to the couch when it was time for a new dose.

Positive Thought Wednesday January 22nd
Still sick and the weather is bitterly cold!  So I am thankful for a coworker who agreed to switch duties with me today.  They did my bus duty today and  I will cover them next week.

It is the little things in life that make things better!!!!!

Sistine Chapel and Positive Thoughts

I spend this weekend working on Scene 16 - Jonah.  It stitched the grey and dark greenish grey colors.  This whole section is nothing but 1/4 stitches all the way through it.  These stitches really make the design pop, but boy did my eyes cross!!!!  I finally figured out what it is meant in the pattern, that the filler made need to be filled in on the next scene.  I followed the pattern to the symbol, and still have one line of filler from the previous scene that needs to be filled in because it wasn't on the scene or the old one.....sigh...

I had a great weekend!  Lots of good things happened, even though on Sunday, I woke up feeling like a NyQuil commercial with all the sniffling, sneezing and coughing. UGH!!  I don't have time to be sick!  I did take my machine into the shop on Saturday.  They said it would be 10 days until they could even look at it...then they have to fix it.  Who knows when I will get it back, I just want it fixed.

Positive thought Friday Day 17
One of my goals for this new semester is to email parents when their child doesn't turn in their homework that day.  I have to stay longer and be more organized but I think it is working.   I received 10 emails from parents thanking me and letting me know they will have them work on it this weekend.  Hoping this will help the kiddos be more responsible.

Positive Though Day 18
Friends are the best thing in the world.  I went out for dinner and shopping with one of my good friends on Saturday.  We tried out a new restaurant and it was yummy!  They had this appetizer that I want to figure out how they made it.  It was deep fried goat cheese bites with Artichokes.  It was so good!!!  We looked at the menu and they sold Long Island tea by the pitchers....we were tempted but we resisted those.  I found some great deals at the Hallmark Store and Bath and Body works.  Love their 75% off sales!!

Positive Thought Day 19- Sunday
Woke up feeling a little yucky today so I thought I would just relax. Laundry could wait until later!   I stitched, caught up on my DVR and then took another 2  1/2/ hour nap.  It was great day.  DH came home from golfing and brought me a Sonic drink!  He grilled us steaks for dinner...wow I am spoiled!

What positive things have been happening with everyone else?

Positive thought day 16

It was a much better day today.  Classes went well, got my nails done and we had pizza for dinner. Today I am very thankful for my little cuddle buddy.  He loves to sleep by me at night.

Scene 2 Sistine Chapel! Positive thought day 14 and 15

Met my goal tonight!  I finished one more page on Sistine chapel and finished scene 2!!!!  I am so excited.  I am going to have to change my goal of finishing 12 scenes this year.  I got to looking at the scenes and some are 15 pages long!!!  UGH!...so my Goal is to finish 100 pages this year.  I know that sounds even worse, but some of the pages only have 200 stitches on them...so I think I can do it.  So far I have finished 3 pages this year, so only 97 to go!!

2 scenes of of Sistine Chapel

Page finished tonight!

Scene 2 completed.

Yesterday was such a terrible day at work I came home and popped a bowl of popcorn, melted real butter (GASP!!) and watched Hart of Dixie on my DVR.   I had a meeting after school with a parent who just doesn't want her child in my class.  It really upset me because in the meeting I wasn't a person, I was - She, Her, or That class. It really upsets me when parents do not think I have their childs best interest at heart.

Positive thought day 13:   I have to remember all the students lives I have touched in the past and the ones I am influencing now.

Positive thought day 14:  I am thankful for a husband that doesn't care if I cook dinner or not.  I can give him a call and say, not cooking either you do or call it in somewhere.  Tonight, we had Bar-b-que from a local restaurant.  I went to pick it up and found out we have 2 of them in our town....want to guess how I found out we have 2 in our town??? That's right...I went to the wrong one!!!!!  Dinner was great though!!!!

Positive thought day 12 and 13

I woke up yesterday morning with the need to organize my house!  I finally put away all my Christmas decorations, did my laundry, cleaned out my fridge and finally took a nap!!  I did clean out some of my Christmas decorations.  I decided to put in the Salvation army pile about 2 boxes of items that I haven't used in 2 years.

Positive thought Day 12:
Sunday afternoon naps are the best!!!  I laid down on the couch with Bert snuggled next to me and napped for over 2 hours.  It was wonderful!!

Positive Thought Day 13:
It was 60 degrees today!  I am thankful for the sunshine!!!!

Sistine Chapel and Positive thought day 11

Working on a friends quilt tonight, my embroidery machine started acting nuts so I have to take it into the shop. On the positive side, I was able to finish this beautiful cardinal design before it went nuts!!!

OH I LOVE a sale!!!!  I went to Hallmark today and got all these ornaments for 75% off the retail price. Before sale it was $111.26.  I paid $28!  You cannot beat that sale!! There are others I want, but will wait until they are lower in price.

I finished another page today of Sistine Chapel.  This makes 20 pages of my 347 complete!!!One more page to stitch then I will finish my first scene of the year.

Day 10 positive thought

This is late because I feel sound asleep early last night.  I was so tired.  Mark decided to go play cards last night so I had the house to myself.  It also meant I didn't have to cook!!  I picked up my favorite dinner and watched the Project runway finale and finished season 2 of "Hart of Dixie" on Netfix.  Had a great night and great dinner of spinach and artichoke dip with deep fried bow tie pasta for dipping!  Can't get more positive than my evening!!

Positive thought day 8

I love to read, however during the school year I don't get to read as much as I would like.  So I find myself listening to books on my way to work or while stitching.  I love them!!

Sistine Chapel update and Positive thought day 7

I do love Christmas ornaments so I decided to take some ornaments to Disney with me to have the  characters autograph them.  I got this idea from Cheapskateprincess whose blog is all about Disney.   I loved finding the characters and getting their autographs.  The characters had a ball signing them.  Several of them added special touches.  I am trying to hard not to leave one tree up all year with these on them.  This is just a sampling of my signatures.

I have been working on Sistine Chapel over my Christmas break and my snow days. My goal is to have finished 12 scenes this year...this scene is 15 pages.  I have 1.5 pages left to go until it is complete.

Here is a close up of what I been working on these past few days.  The lower section of beige...lots of beige...

Positive thought Day 7:
I get to go back to work tomorrow!!!  I am so happy!!!  We have missed 7 days this year...2 we can make up during the school year,  so that leaves 5 days so far that is added to the end of the school calendar. Right now we are going into June.  So I am happy to go back to work!

Another snow day and positive thought day 6

I had another snow day today and will have one again tomorrow. As of now, we have to make up 7 snow days. I am hoping to have a summer break but it isn't looking good!

Positive thought for the day: there is nothing like a good cup of hot tea and a murder mystery to help pass the time on a snow day!

Snowy Sunday and positive thought day 6

Woke up this morning to a winter wonderland.  It snowed almost all day.  I spent my day stitching, drinking hot tea and watching Law and Order with my Dear Husband. I did finish a page of Sistine Chapel which I will post tomorrow.  I am a point that I can't take it out of the q-snaps.

Positive thought:

I am very thankful that I have a warm house to live.  Brigen is thankful too....he loves his blanket!

Small finish and positive thought day 4

Today started out as a wonderful day!   The furry babies and I slept in this morning.  The weather man said to expect 2-5 inches of snow so this meant a trip to Walmart today.  Wow!  Talk about a busy place!!!  It seems that if snow is in the forecast, then everyone is rushing to buy milk and bread.   Which are 2 of the items I needed after being out of town for a week.

Here is a small finish for the start of the year.  I stitched most of Chip on the plane.  He is just so cute.

Around 2:00 pm this afternoon, I received some very bad news.  One of my former principal and friend passed away today.  We do not know the details but she will be greatly missed.  My favorite memory of her is my first year at BHS, she came into my room to observe me for my evaluation.  One of my students asked me a question and I didn't know the answer.  I told them I would have to do a little research but, I would have an answer for them during our afternoon class.  Kathy, my principal, raised her hand and said, "I can answer that for you."  She then proceeded to get up and teach part of my lesson.  She gave me a great evaluation telling me it takes a great teacher to admit they don't know something and to let someone else step up to help them.  Memory always makes me laugh.    She will be greatly missed!!!

Positive thought day 4:
I think that it is very important to remember the good times when you lose someone close to you.  That is what I am taking from my day today.  Even though you have lost a friend, you will always have the memories you shared.

Positive thought day 2

When we booked our Disney vacation in April 2013, our airline flew Thursdays and Saturdays to Orlando.  When we booked our airline tickets, they changed their days to fly to Orlando to Fridays and Saturdays which meant, we had to add another night to our trip.  We decided to move down to a value resort since they are cheaper than where we were staying.

Today I am thankful that our luggage made it from our previous hotel to our new hotel on time and with nothing broken!
