Advice needed, Disney Wreath, and New Chart!

I wanted to show off the wreath I made to go over our fireplace.  It was really easy to make and took about 15 minutes.  I think it took longer to hang it than it did to make it! In case you are wondering..You get one big wreath and 2 smaller wreaths.  Use floral wire to tie the two smaller wreaths to the larger one to make the ears.  I added a red and white polka dot bow in the middle for Minnie Mouse.  I decorated it with cross stitched Disney ornaments.

Bobbins!  I have slowly started switching from floss bags to bobbins. It is a VERY long and boring process. I have one of those floss winders but I don't like it.  So I am doing it by hand.  I would love any advice you may have for making this easier.
I did try to get my husband to help me while he was watching football.  He did a great job right???  I would agree except he didn't write the number on the bobbin or put the thread back in the baggies so I know what to number it.  Sigh.......

A HUGE thank you to my friend Cathy on the Mystic Stitch boards. I have been looking for this pattern for a while and she had it in her stash!  She sent it to me so I could stitch.  It just reminds me of my Jane Austen books/movies.  It looks like a house that would be in one of the novels.

This is the ornament I am making for a Christmas Ornament Kit exchange in my Ozark Samplers group.  Everyone picks out a pattern from the current year JCS Ornament issue.  We kit it up for each person in the exchange.  When the day is over, you have around 7 or 8 ornaments kitted up and ready to stitch!!!  It is alot of fun! However, I have a predicament. The pattern calls for white snowflakes and swirlys.  The fabric I have chosen is below. Basically, you can't see white on white.  So should I add a lilac color or just use the pinks/aquas/greens for the swirlys?

I couldn't use the floss winder either! I thought it was just because I was left-handed! I bought a bag of all the DMC colors from Ebay and it took me a week to roll them by myself, but I am so proud of them all nice and pretty! You won't regret it! I bought the DMC stickers and used them, but I also used a Sharpie to write the colors on the bobbins just in case the stickers came off. I put them in numerical order and that's the only thing that bothers me, I'd rather them be in color order. Good luck!

I love the winder! It goes slow when you do the first row (because I want the floss rows tight against each other) but after that, it takes me less than 30 seconds to wind a skein. Are you attaching it to the floss box before trying to wind? What don't you like about it?

I think a lavendar would look good with your ornament, or one of the colors already in the chart. Or what about a light pale blue?

Your Minnie Mouse wreath is adorable! Good luck with the bobbins. I think that will be one of my goals next year. As for the ornament, I would go with a light blue.

Your Minne Mouse wreath is cute!!!! Don't know what to say about DH helping with floss bobbins, except to say not to let him help with that anymore. I think using a lilac color would look good. I can see what you are saying about white on white getting lost. Just my opinion.

I've never been able to use the bobbin winders either. I do all of mine by hand. I have several boxes full - it's so nice to have them all on their bobbins! I think my best suggestion would be to pick a good movie, get a cup of coffee and just wind and wind and wind. That's what I usually do.

I absolutely love your new pattern. I've not seen that one before. It will be gorgeous when done!

My only advise about the bobbins - use floss bags! :) I'd use lilac for the swirlies. I love the wreath!

I can't wait to see your progress on Victorian Winter-you stitch faster than I do so I am sure you will pass me in no time at all- maybe it will prompt me to get my bum in gear to stitch it. Post pics often please!

I used to use bobbins and swore off them becuase I didn't like the kinks they left in the floss. I use floss bags now and like them a lot better. I've even gotten into the habit of cutting the floss to length as soon as I pull the skein because putting them in floss bags let me have everything pre-cut, which is really convenient.

For your snowflakes and swirlies, how about an icy blue (like the colors they often use for shading in ice.) Something like DMC 3756, 3753 or 3752? The other thought I had was a varigated. I've got the remanents of Weeks Dye Works Sky (2111), which shades between blue and white that might work. And if you want lavender, what about Weeks Dye Works 2316 (Iris)?

Very cute Minnie wreath! Anything Disney is good! I went to Disney just recently and brought something special back. I posted a pic in this post on my blog. ;) http://craftyimaginingsbyjen.blogspot.com/2011/12/disney-trips-photos-and-special.html

That design you are doing now is pretty and I agree about the issue with white on white. To make things easier, I would use one or all of the existing colors you are using now. They all look great. :)

I would do the white snowflakes in an icy blue color. I think that would show up nicely. And I LOVE your wreath. It's darling! Would you mind taking a piccy of the ornies you used and showing them on your blog? I would love to see them!

We have someone that lives near us that puts a huge mickey wreath like that on their house. I like the ornie! I've thought about making that one myself. I just did the January LHN cottage on too light of material and lost most of the snowflakes. I should have used a slightly variegated like several people have suggested.
